Have You Got Another Ten Seconds?

Earlier this week, I posted up a first look at some ten-second material. I thought you might like to see some more examples:

An NPC

Tuure Raita (NE old male human) sculpts lifelike waxen figures which he paints, dresses and displays in a back room museum of his chandlery. Some figures depict normal folk. Others take more blasphemous, disturbing forms. Tuure emits a faint miasmic scent.

A Shiny Treasure

Forged of enchanted bronze, this +1 shield has a golden boss in the shape of the elemental fire sigil. In darkness, the sigil glimmers. On command, the boss bursts into heatless fire. This provides bright light in a 30 ft. radius.

An Urban Locale

Barely shoulder-width wide Dandy’s Way is dark and detritus-strewn. Unwanted dead space between two buildings, the alley is a handy cut-through, if no one is coming the other way. It is a notorious trouble spot—the buildings on either side are both low-class taverns.

A Dungeon Locale

Water oozes up from between this room’s cracked, uneven slimy paves. Four hideous gargoyles squatting atop rough hewn stone pedestals leer from the room’s corners. The detestable, cloying stench of damp and mould fill the chill air.

What Do You Think?

The idea of ten-second material is to provide inspiration you can use in-game to flesh out your session. Need an NPC? Need to describe a minor urban locale? Need a dungeon locale? Ten-Second material has got you covered.

I’m toying with developing this idea into a series of one- or two-page themed micro-books in a similar vein to the old Monstrous Lair line.

What do you think? Would you find this useful in game? Please let me know, by leaving a comment.
